Winter Town Treasure Hunt
as Game Designer and Programmer
A winter holiday themed 2D scroller puzzle game that focuses on riddles. Solve the clues and find the secret prize from Santa Claus in this cozy little winter town.
This is a game jam project that I collaborated with 2 amazing artists, while myself being the sole designer, writer and programmer.
The game provides strong holiday vibe and educational value. I also introduced several gameplay mechanics to spice up the linear and simple base of the game.
We worked closely and effectively together within a 5-day window, finished a polished product and won the 1st place in the game jam event.
Backpack Dungeon
as Game Designer
A 2D rogue-like strategy dungeon crawler with a heavy focus on backpack management.
You play as the backpack guy who can store weapons and tools in his body, and use them to attack enemies automatically. The game is reset on death and features a 3-level map layout.
I defined the math models for enemy difficulty scaling and item value, defined the build strategies, designed all 50 items including weapons, armors and accessories, and worked on balancing throughout the project.
I collaborated with a producer, a programmer, 2 artists and a level designer in this project.

Music Ninja
as Solo Developer
A top-down hack-n-slash rhythm game, currently fully playable and close to release.
You will play as the ninja character who will perform several different actions (jumping, sliding, cutting, deflecting) matching different types of rhythm in music.
My goal for this project was to build a game completely by myself that features my favorite elements/styles at a manageable scale.
The game features an original music album, a low-poly yet tasteful art style, sleek fighting animations with toon-ish VFX, minimalist UI with smooth motions, and fluid gameplay controls with good player interaction feedbacks.
The game will be released in a few months on App Store and Google Play.
Project Tower
A rogue-like tower defense prototype, featuring RNG based tower spawning, grid based tower placement, buffs and combos, synergy and strategy, tower variety (elemental properties, atk. speed, range, special effects), enemy variety (grounded/airborne/invisible, elite/boss, modifiers), day-night cycle, events and passive bonuses.
Project Subway
A slice of a single player adventure experience, featuring a complete level map containing 3 floors, game objectives, simple cutscenes, interactable objects and NPCs. It’s an end-to-end mission experience one can play through.
Project Puzzle
A first-person Sci-Fi puzzle experience, featuring 4 rooms with different puzzle mechanics, involving object interactions, UI input and clue analysis. When all 4 rooms are cleared, the end of the mission is reached.
Project ARPG
A slice of a top-down ARPG experience in a fantasy setting.
In this short experience, player starts from the mountaintop village, has to find equipment and finish certain quests before heading downhill, player will fight through monsters using melee attacks before reaching the end goal of the mission, which will trigger a cutscene.
3D CONCEPTS
I use 3D modeling to visualize interesting concepts, or to just have some fun!
MUSIC PRODUCTION
I make original songs and try to do sound design, mixing and mastering by myself.
Destiny Awaits - An instrumental track (piano, strings and flute) that sounds like the main theme for an adventure game.
Star Trails - A trance track with piano layered on top that draws an image of starry night sky.
Neon Capital - An 80s-inspired synthwave track that tries to give a cyberpunk styled city vibe.
